Wedding Budget Breakdown
This calculator is split into different categories to make your wedding budget breakdown clear and helpful:
- Bride & Groom — dress / suit, wedding rings, bride's accessories (shoes, jewelry), groom's accessories, and hair & makeup.
- Subcontractors — expenses related to photographer, videographer, florist, invitations & stationery, and music / DJ / band. Combining vendors (e.g., having the photographer also create the invitations) can significantly reduce costs.
- Venue, Food & Drinks — venue rental (enter the venue area in sq ft or m² to see space per guest), catering cost per person (automatically multiplied by guest count), beverages budget, and wedding cake. These costs are strictly related to the number of guests.
- Ceremony — officiant / ceremony fee and ceremony decorations. These costs are often fixed and depend on the venue or officiant you choose.
- Transportation & Accommodation — couple's transportation (limo, horse-drawn carriage, luxury car), guest transportation, and hotel / accommodation for out-of-town guests.
- Custom Expenses — three free fields for any costs not covered above (rehearsal dinner, welcome bags, hair accessories, honeymoon deposit, etc.).
American and Metric Measurement Systems
The calculator supports both US Customary (square feet for venue area) and Metric (square meters) measurement systems. Select your preferred system in the form — the venue area field and the "space per guest" figure in the results will update automatically.
Multi-Currency Support
The calculator supports 20 world currencies. The US Dollar (USD, $) is the default, and the Russian Ruble (RUB, ₽) is prominently featured as the second option. All financial results are displayed in the currency you select.
How Much Does an Average Wedding Cost?
Wedding rings, food, and drink are usually the most expensive items and should always be in your wedding budget breakdown. In total, the average wedding cost in the USA is around $30,000 (for approximately 100–150 guests). In Russia, the average is around 300,000–500,000 ₽. Costs vary significantly by region, season, and the choices you make in each category.
The biggest cost drivers are typically:
- Venue & catering — 40–50% of the total budget
- Photography & videography — 10–15%
- Flowers & decorations — 8–10%
- Music / entertainment — 5–8%
- Bride & groom attire & accessories — 8–12%
Use the breakdown chart in the results to see how your wedding expenses compare to these typical proportions — and find opportunities to cut costs where it matters least to you.
